Piano Lesson

This clip was humorous, but I personally didn’t find it laugh out loud funny. This reminds me of a lot of Japanese anime and drama shows, where the teacher would smack the student with a stick (like here) or on the back of the head if they messed up. At first, the first present man is “playing” the piano with amazing grace and speed (or what seems like it.) Then the supposed student comes out and starts, messing up numerous times, and gets smacked. Ironically, this student looks older than the teacher. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if this kind of skit was on a Japanese variety show of sorts, because they do this type of this on them all the time. When it comes down to it, I don’t think that this teaching method works, because it makes the student afraid if they mess up, right away they’ll get smacked. The dialogue isn’t something that I recognize, but I think that it’s some Asian language like mine, maybe Japanese or Korean, doesn’t sound like Japanese though. Curiosity just got the best of me, and I clicked it, to see where it leads. The comments people left on it were interesting, and similar to what I already said. Watching it again, I suppose that this video is pretty funny, if you get past the abusive teacher part. I can’t even imagine what it would be like if any of my teachers were like that, I would be so sad… just one like mistake… smack! Yeah that would be pretty terrible alright. Maybe only people that have had real experience with that situation can find it really funny.
